Review: Daiwa Lexa LEXA300PWR Baitcasting Reel

Last year Daiwa came out with the Daiwa Lexa High Capacity Low Profile Baitcasting Reels. These are lightweight baitcasting reels with a lot of drag that are designed for saltwater fishing. All the models they released had 7.1:1 high gear ratios. Now they have finally released the LEXA300PWR with a 5.1:1 gear ratio.

The Daiwa Lexa LEXA300PWR Baitcasting Reel is constructed of aluminum and weighs just 10.5 ozs. It puts out 22 lbs of drag at max and holds 240 yards of 40 lb braid. For anglers who love to jig and bottom fish, this is a great reel! Perfect for fishing for fluke, bass, blues, snapper, blackfish, cod and more. Why use a heavier reel when this little baitcaster can do it all? It even has built in magnetic cast control for making long, accurate casts.

The Daiwa Lexa LEXA300PWR has a star drag and a levelwind. No clicker. If any of these things bother you then go with something else. This reel is going to be very popular in the North East and it should be popular down south as well. The Daiwa Lexa LEXA300PWR High Capacity Low Profile Baitcasting Reel sells for $199.95 and is really nice!

Great little reel. Even smoother than my abu Garcia revo toro winch reel. Same amount of drag also. I would still prefer the winch for casting double ten’s for muskies. But for everything else, this reel will handle with no problem. A very well made reel. Quality in every place!
