Review: Penn Pursuit II PURII6000 Spinning Reel
By: Josh Fuld | August 17, 2013 at 8:13 am

Penn has completely redone the Penn Pursuit Spinning Reels for 2013 and they are significantly better! The new Penn Pursuit II PURII6000 Spinning Reel is based off the same great platform that produces the Penn Fierce, Sargus, Battle and Conflict spinning reels. Penn has made these reels modern and given them a great finish.

The first thing you will notice about the Penn Pursuit II Spinning Reels is how much they look like the other Penn reels that share the same platform. The difference being that the Pursuit II is the entry level reel and therefore has a graphite body and a graphite rotor. The sideplate and spool are aluminum. It also features five ball bearings, a stainless steel main shaft, a thick bailwire and a really comfortable handle. The reel puts out 20 lbs of drag at max, has a 4.6:1 gear ratio, weighs 21 ozs and holds 355 yards of 40 lb braid. Perfect for fishing from the beach or a boat!

The new Penn Pursuit II PURII6000 Spinning Reel puts the old Pursuit to shame. It is significantly better in almost every way and looks better too. With its black exterior with silver highlights, the Pursuit looks like a much more expensive reel. It sells for just $54.95 and is perfect for saltwater fishing. If you are looking for a new spinning reel and don’t want to spend a lot of money, give the Penn Pursuit II a try. You are getting excellent value.
