The new Penn Torque family of reels do not have the conventional trolling look. A Star Drag sits prominently on the handle giving the angler easy access to cinch down or lighten up on the drag at any time. It’s a look and a feature anglers desire.
Built in Philadelphia, the new Torque Star Drag reels offer features required for saltwater use. The machined and anodized aluminum body frame, with truss design, and sideplates ignore the corrosion of saltwater while being lightweight yet strong. Stainless steel main and pinion gears add to the corrosion protection and strength. Seven-shielded stainless steel bearing plus an instant anti-reverse bearing with silent back up ratchet provide a smooth and durable performance.
The Live Spindle design allows the free floating spool to spin independent of the spindle or pinion gear making this one of the most castable reels in its class. Exclusive to the Torque Star Drag is the line capacity ring identification on the spool, allowing the angler to easily identify percentage of line capacity remaining on the spool. Each reel also features the patented Versa-Drag with HT-100TM washers for smooth, cool operation. The largest Torque has exclusive Switchblade Harness Lugs that remain flush in the side plate when not in use making the reel more comfortable to use and reduces the chances of grabbing line.
