The Penn Clash CLA2500 Spinning Reel can perform equally well in light saltwater as well as heavier freshwater applications. You’ll love the CLA2500’s carbon fiber rotor which cuts weight and feels amazing while working plugs, dropshotting, jigging, and more! The CLA2500 features an impressive 9 fully sealed ball bearings, perfect for saltwater use, which makes this reel the smoothest offering that Penn has ever put out. Anglers will love the CNC machined aluminum gear technology – the best gearing that’s ever been inside a Penn spinning reel (I know, a lot of “bests” here). The machined and anodized braid ready spool will take 220 yards of 15# braid, putting you well within range of larger saltwater predators including schoolie-sized stripers and redfish, fluke, blues, and even some false albacore and bonito (thanks to Penn’s powerful HT-100 drag system). The Penn Clash CLA2500 Spinning Reel can also be utilized in lakes and rivers across the country for larger trout, pike, and bass fishing. You’ll be best off throwing the CLA2500 on a 6’ ML/M graphite rod.

I have had the 3000 for a few weeks now and I love it so far. The HT-100 drag system is a proven system that leaves little to be desired. The reel is very smooth and I have no problems in that department. I actually so far have no complaints. I wish it was made in the USA but not much can be done about that. Cast and line lay seem perfect off this reel, already love it much more than my Spinfisher V series. I liked it enough I ordered another in the 4000 size.
One of the lightest and smoothest spinning reels I've ever owned. I've been a Penn guy for 25 years and they really hit a home-run with this design. Excellent reel!
I purchased the CL5000 late last year so I've only used a few times but I really love it so far. Very smooth and very well built. I did make one mistake when I purchased it. I purchased it from Penn directly. Not a good idea. It took three weeks to be delivered and the price was higher than J&H tackle. I won't make that mistake again. Stupid Hurts!
