The Penn Clash CLA3000 Spinning Reel is one of the best inshore saltwater light tackle reels on the market today featuring an incredible technology/price ratio. Users of the CLA3000 love the incredibly smooth retrieve thanks in part to both 8 fully sealed ball bearings and the brand new CNC machined aluminum gearing system that Penn has proudly featured in these reels – we hope it continues to be featured in Penn spinners in the future! Here in the Northeast, the CLA3000 will find its home in the shallow flats of the South Shore bays as well as on the North Shore in harbors and shoals – this reel is a Kayaker’s dream! Being both light (10.2 oz.) and powerful (15# drag) the CLA3000 is perfectly suited for both bucktailing fluke and throwing light lures at cruising stripers or albies. Across the country, anglers can handily use this reel for any inshore species up to about 30# - think redfish, snook, speckles, bonefish, etc. The Penn Clash CLA3000 Spinning Reel features a lightweight carbon fiber rotor for added smoothness, and the machined and anodized braid ready spool will accommodate about 150 yards of 30# braid. Pair the CLA2500 with a 6’6”-7’ M/MH fast action graphite rod for optimal performance.

I have had the 3000 for a few weeks now and I love it so far. The HT-100 drag system is a proven system that leaves little to be desired. The reel is very smooth and I have no problems in that department. I actually so far have no complaints. I wish it was made in the USA but not much can be done about that. Cast and line lay seem perfect off this reel, already love it much more than my Spinfisher V series. I liked it enough I ordered another in the 4000 size.
One of the lightest and smoothest spinning reels I've ever owned. I've been a Penn guy for 25 years and they really hit a home-run with this design. Excellent reel!
I purchased the CL5000 late last year so I've only used a few times but I really love it so far. Very smooth and very well built. I did make one mistake when I purchased it. I purchased it from Penn directly. Not a good idea. It took three weeks to be delivered and the price was higher than J&H tackle. I won't make that mistake again. Stupid Hurts!
