The Penn Clash CLA4000 Spinning Reel is the new standard for your all-purpose saltwater spinning reel. Not too big, not too small, the CLA4000 has the marbles to tangle with powerful predatory species like big stripers, redfish, black drum, snook, or permit, yet has the necessary finesse to bucktail fluke, pitch baits at weakfish or throw light jigs at sea trout cruising the southern flats. The CLA4000, like the other studs in this incredible lineup, features Penn’s brand new CNC machined aluminum gear technology which allows for the most smooth retrieve ever achieved by a Penn spinning reel. Additionally, 8 fully sealed ball bearings add to the overall silky performance of the CLA4000. A carbon fiber rotor cuts weight and makes the Clash 4000 perform at a level once thought unattainable by the manufacturers at Penn. The machined and anodized aluminum spool that graces this reel is braid ready, and will easily accommodate 200 yards of 30# spectra. The Penn Clash CLA4000 Spinning Reel will be best utilized when placed in the seat of a 7’ M/MH graphite rod for optimal casting distance and superior performance.

I have had the 3000 for a few weeks now and I love it so far. The HT-100 drag system is a proven system that leaves little to be desired. The reel is very smooth and I have no problems in that department. I actually so far have no complaints. I wish it was made in the USA but not much can be done about that. Cast and line lay seem perfect off this reel, already love it much more than my Spinfisher V series. I liked it enough I ordered another in the 4000 size.
One of the lightest and smoothest spinning reels I've ever owned. I've been a Penn guy for 25 years and they really hit a home-run with this design. Excellent reel!
I purchased the CL5000 late last year so I've only used a few times but I really love it so far. Very smooth and very well built. I did make one mistake when I purchased it. I purchased it from Penn directly. Not a good idea. It took three weeks to be delivered and the price was higher than J&H tackle. I won't make that mistake again. Stupid Hurts!
