The Penn Clash CLA5000 Spinning Reel won’t disappoint – whether you’re prowling the coastal shorelines in search of trophy fish in the surf, or matching this bad boy on a heavy action boat rod for some beastly inshore species, the CLA5000 is your new BFF. This reel is purposefully built with power in mind – the rugged HT-100 drag system outs out a hardy 20# max drag making the reel perfect for hunting large powerful predators like cow bass, bull redfish, tarpon, yellowtail, schoolie tuna, dorado, king mackerel, trophy sized snook, and more! You’ll love the brand new CNC machined aluminum main gear which makes for some seriously smooth gear meshing. 8 fully sealed ball bearings placed strategically throughout the reel add to the smoothness of this reel, and a lower 5.6:1 gear ratio only reinforces the emphasis on power. The largest reel in the line that comes with a weight cutting carbon fiber rotor, the CLA5000 also comes with a dexterous EVA power knob that’s perfect for cranking down on stubborn, angry fish. The machined and anodized spool is fully braid ready, and will accommodate up to 300 yards of 40# braid (when professionally spooled – we put that braid on TIGHT)! The Penn Clash CLA5000 Spinning Reel is perfectly suited for either surf fishing on a 9 foot M/MH rod or heavy duty boat fishing on a 7’-8’ H/XH boat spinning rod.

I have had the 3000 for a few weeks now and I love it so far. The HT-100 drag system is a proven system that leaves little to be desired. The reel is very smooth and I have no problems in that department. I actually so far have no complaints. I wish it was made in the USA but not much can be done about that. Cast and line lay seem perfect off this reel, already love it much more than my Spinfisher V series. I liked it enough I ordered another in the 4000 size.
One of the lightest and smoothest spinning reels I've ever owned. I've been a Penn guy for 25 years and they really hit a home-run with this design. Excellent reel!
I purchased the CL5000 late last year so I've only used a few times but I really love it so far. Very smooth and very well built. I did make one mistake when I purchased it. I purchased it from Penn directly. Not a good idea. It took three weeks to be delivered and the price was higher than J&H tackle. I won't make that mistake again. Stupid Hurts!
