The smallest entry in the Saragosa line, the Shimano Saragosa SRG5000SW Spinning Reel is a true multipurpose reel with many saltwater applications. Used by surfcasters for back bay stripers, blues, seatrout and redfish, the SRG5000SW will match perfectly on a 7 or 8 foot surf rod, and because the X-Tough Drag system (22# max drag) is fully sealed, you need not worry if your reel gets wet. Also popular from the kayak, the SRG5000SW is incredibly smooth – you can thank 6 S-ARB ball bearings throughout the reel for that. The Saragosa 5000SW is a perfect candidate for throwing small tins at false albacore here in the Northeast, and Shimano’s X-Ship system makes sure the pinion gear will stay firmly in place during a blistering run from one of those angry mini-tuna. A high speed 5.7:1 gear ratio will take in line at a blistering 38 inches per crank – perfect for ripping jigs through the surf or open water past cruising predators. The Shimano Saragosa SRG5000SW Spinning Reel utilizes Shimano’s Super Stopper II infinite anti-reverse system that will not even budge a millimeter even under extreme pressure – a must have when driving the hook home!

i bought the 10000. feels heavy duty. feels slight bind. maybe its normal. not sure as this is my first saltwater reel. ive had the bail close one couple times on a cast. very minimal in feature but it gets the job done.
Took my new 20000 Saragossa to Florida with 500 yards of 80 lb braid. I matched it with 7.5 ft OTI tuna popping rod and love it. I caught grouper, big red snapper, and amberjack jigging butterfly jigs off the bottom in up to 300 ft of water. The nice part is the line retrieve rate, so it doesn't take so long to reel in. I will take it to Venice, LA in the spring for Yellowfin tuna. At 2:07 of this video is one of my victims: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQ-lhuxBQNI&list=UURjvuQEnYjHVWxvdYAGGt5g
