The Shimano Tekota TEK500LC Star Drag Reel comes with a handy line counter for all salt and freshwater applications. The TEK500LC is a great salmon trolling reel, and if you’re bottom fishing in saltwater, the TEK500LC works well for blackfish and gag grouper. It still comes with all the goodies of the regular TEK500, like the Super Stopper anti-reverse system, a Dartainium Drag system that puts out 18# of smooth drag, and 4 AR-B ball bearings that keep the reel smooth even after years of rigorous use. Because the TEK500LC uses aluminum for the frame, sideplates, and spool, it’s approved for saltwater use – and you can target fairly large inshore predatory species like stripers, blues, snook, and redfish. Better suited for bottom fishing, the TEK500LC would be great for grouper and snapper as well as wreck fishing for blackfish, seabass and ling. You’ll be able to fit 400 yards of 40# braid on your TEK500LC, so even deep water applications are within range for a reel that fits in the palm of your hand.
