A West Coast favorite, the Shimano Trinidad A TN20A Star Drag Reel has been slaying fish from yellowtail to yellowfin out on long range boats for a long time. Recently upgraded to a one piece cold forged and machined aluminum frame with E.I. corrosion resistant coating, the TN20A has made the transition out to the East Coast where anglers use this lightweight powerhouse for jigging everything from cow bass to schoolie tuna. Additionally, you can target large, powerful bottom fish like cod, grouper, snapper and tilefish with the large line capacity of the TN20A – you’re looking at well over 700 yards of 50# braid. Thanks to Shimano’s proprietary Dartainium II Woven Carbon Fiber drag system, that’s specifically designed to transfer the heat to the fish instead of the drag washer, the TN20A smoothly puts out 25# drag. The TN20A is built in Japan using cold-forged and machined aluminum for its one piece frame, sideplate, and spool – it’s even got chrome plated screws for greater saltwater resistance. If you’re tossing iron with your TN20A, the SuperFree freespool mechanism ensures that the spool will spin evenly and effortlessly, creating long and deadly accurate casts – especially important when casting ahead of a cruising gamefish. The Shimano Trinidad A TN20A Star Drag Reel comes with Shimano’s patented X-Ship, which places ball bearings (there are actually 9 throughout the entire reel) at either end of the pinion gear ensuring that it never comes out of alignment with the large main gear. The result is a ridiculously smooth and virtually torque free reel that can withstand ferocious runs year after year.
