The Shimano Tekota TEK700 Levelwind Reel is a beast of a levelwind – capable of targeting large, powerful predators, the TEK700 can also be used to troll with wire line or lead core line. Utilized by freshwater anglers almost exclusively for trolling muskies, the TEK700 puts out a stout 24# drag thanks to Shimano’s Dartainium drag system. The non-disengaging levelwind system is ultra-tough, and can stand up to heavy wire line trolling – anglers here in the Northeast are starting to use the TEK700 for pulling umbrella rigs or bunker spoons as levelwinding wire line is one of the most annoying things about trolling. Trust me. The TEK700 is built using aluminum for its sideplates, frame, and spool, making it a worthy saltwater offering, and the handle is adjustable for even more power if you choose. The 4.2:1 gear ratio that the TEK700 uses is perfect for bottom fishing as well, and you can target large bottom fare like halibut, cod, grouper and snapper. The Shimano Tekota TEK700 Star Drag Reel utilizes Shimano’s Super Stopper anti-reverse system for rock-solid hook sets, and the heavy duty aluminum spool will hold a whopping 430 yards of 80# braid. Rounding things out, 4 AR-B anti-rust ball bearings ensure your TEK700 will remain factory smooth for years to come.
