Product Description

The Shimano Tekota TEK800 Levelwind Reel is the biggest, most powerful levelwind reel on the market today. Used primarily for heavy deepwater bottom fishing, the TEK800 is right at home on wrecks, shelves, or even rigs in the Gulf. You can target true monsters of the deep – large grouper and snapper, halibut, monster cod, and tilefish. The TEK800 uses a Dartainium Drag system to pump out a hefty 24# drag that will remain smooth and steady throughout the battle ensuring you won’t lose fish due to drag hesitation. The line capacity is borderline ludicrous, as the aluminum spool will hold 640 yards of 80# braid – that’s what I use when targeting large yellowfin for reference. The non-disengaging levelwind system will evenly distribute your line back on the reel, and when fishing in 500+ feet of water, it’s nice to only have to reel and not worry about levelwinding it yourself. The TEK800 has a very powerful 4.1:1 gear ratio, but you can adjust the handle for even more power if you wish. You can also use your Shimano Tekota TEK800 Star Drag Reel for heavy duty wire line trolling applications if you wish, making trolling umbrellas and bunker spoons a breeze!

    Smooth

I own a TEK600, i have put this reel threw everything, groundfishing in 400', stripers, tog, blackfish you name it and this reel take a beating and keeps on going. I ahve fished this reel for 3 years not and have not had it serviced, still smooth as day one.
