So here’s some unwelcome news. The release of the much anticipated Penn Slammer IV Spinning Reels has been delayed until February at the earliest. No word on the DX version but it will probably be around the same time.

Penn, which is owned by Pure Fishing has been having a really difficult time getting product out of their new warehouse. It has had a major impact on our stock. While most product shortages are due to the glut of container ships at the ports, difficulty getting parts for manufacturing and continuing issues related to the pandemic, Penn’s problem is with software in their warehouse. It really is a shame because 2021 was such a big year for fishing. So many new anglers found fishing in 2020 and just couldn’t get the gear they wanted.

As of today Penn is saying that the Penn Slammer IV Spinning Reels will begin shipping in February and we might see a few trickle in before that but not in any quantities. If you hoped to have one under the tree for Christmas, that’s just not going to happen.

Penn Slammer IV DX 7500 Spinning Reel

I played with the Penn Slammer IV at ICAST and it’s a really nice reel. The DX is even nicer and I can’t wait for Penn to release them so anglers can enjoy them.
