The Shimano Talica TAC8 Single-Speed Lever Drag Reel is an amazing entry into perhaps the most luxurious small lever drag reels on the market – the Talica series. A small and lightweight reel, its applications range anywhere from reefs to wrecks to open water. Made in Japan, the TAC8 is constructed using cold forged and machined aluminum for maximum saltwater resistance and weight reduction. The one piece frame and side plates increase the overall rigidity of the TAC8, perfect for targeting larger inshore and offshore species including stripers, redfish, tarpon, amberjack, yellowtail, and cobia. Don’t be afraid to utilize your TAC8 while bottom fishing as well – it’s a beast when targeting smaller grouper and cod! The TAC8 utilizes High Efficiency Gearing, which means the older, outdated gear is replaced by a new larger gear that has smaller teeth. This translates to a much more powerful crank than ever before, as well as incredible gear meshing that results in a super smooth retrieve – one of the best in the business. The Shimano Talica TAC8 is a high speed (6.1:1) reel, and can hold just about 400 yards of standard 50# braid on its cold forged aluminum spool. The lever drag system in the TAC8 puts out 20#, more than enough to stop hard charges from mid-range nearshore species.
