Best live bait/plug reel period
By Paul Peluso on 1/3/2024
I have used this reel for several years. I use the 6000 from shore and my boat and it has held up to the test of fish from schoolies to 150 lbs plus sharks. I can’t tell you the number of fish probably 1,000 and I have not encountered 1 problem with the 2 reels I have. The bait running lever is perfect when the bunker pods are around and you can adjust the free spool drag with ease. Shimano are made to hold up I still have some from the 1990’s that I still use ??. Only draw back if you fish the ocean in rough water I would go with a sealed reel but other then that you can’t beat the price. A definite A+ from Captain Paul Peluso aka Pablo
When Shimano relaunched the Baitrunner series with the Shimano Baitrunner D Spinning Reels, they made significant improvements. By applying what they had learned about spinning reels over the past five years, they were able to improve the Baitrunner's castability, reduce wind knots and created a better overall fishing experience with braid. The drag was increased and the handles were given more comfortable grips. All of this adds up to a significantly better reel than the previous version. If you are looking for a live bait reel, then you'll love the Shimano Baitrunner D Spinning Reels!
Shimano Baitrunner D Spinning Reels are available in several models.
