Don’t mistake the Shimano Calcutta D CT300D Round Baitcast Reel for a weakling just because of its size – it can one hit quit you before you even know what happened! It’s compact, dexterous, and incredibly well made – featuring a cold forged one piece aluminum body and frame as well as Shimano’s proprietary “S” Compact Body design. This magnificent Japanese baitcaster has the stopping power (15# drag using a Dartainium drag system) to target mid-sized inshore targets like stripers, blues, redfish and snook – but typically is used for lighter action like fluke, flounder, seabass, or porgies. Freshwater anglers will find the CT300D is an absolute beast of a pike reel, capable of taming 36”+ fish with cold, assassin like efficiency. The CT300D, like its brothers in the Calcutta D line, utilizes Shimano’s amazing X-Ship gearing technology which places two anti-rust bearings at either end of the pinion gear making for a ludicrously smooth and solid feeling retrieve. Paired well with a medium weight, trigger gripped baitcasting style rod, the Shimano Calcutta CT300D Round Baitcast Reel will hold about 200 yards of 40# braid, more than enough for most inshore applications.

This is a very nice reel. Round reels are difficult for me to use with my arthritic hand, but this one is not too bad. It is a pain to adjust the centrifugal brake control.
